According to my good buddies over at AllHipHop.com, MC Hammer has put an end to his beef with Jay-Z.
“As a responsible veteran of twenty something years of this [Hip-Hop]. I can't leave it out there with tensions. I am reading comments on both sides, it's not about that, I have seen all of that before. There is an opportunity to say at some point. We onto the next thing. You know, Jay took his shot and I answered. Now let's move on. 7 Days is enough. I'm Accepting Jay Z at his "Word" and moving on. I made my point. #KingHammer,” he tweeted.
Hammer then went on to further explain his few found peace keeping. He told AllHipHop.com that other matters were commanding his attention, those in his native Oakland.. The recent case surrounding Oscar Grant’s murder and the controversial two-year sentencing of the officer that killed him was one matter. Of the case Hammer tweeted "The Justice System failed again. Oscar Grant (RIP) was an unarmed victim slain by the court today."
Even more recently, another unarmed man named Derrick Jones, 37, was shot and killed by police in Oakland.
I'm not surprised. I remember being a teen seeing Hammer in a video with a host of other west coast rappers doing a joint called " We're All In The Same Gang." It was a song created to call an end to gang violence out on that end. Just as the NYC rapper released "Self-Destruction," a call to end street violence in general. And he's probably rethinking his position right about now, knowing that if/when the video resurfaces he'd appear dumb hypocritical right. Lives have been lost because of "rap beef." Yet & still, I do believe that if Jay would have responded in the way he wanted him to, Hammer would have been more than happy to keep this tomfoolery going. But, like my mom says, not even a fool likes to argue with himself.
I'm so glad Jay did the right thing.
Spread Love ... It's The Bklyn Way!
